Slow And Strong

Learning that when we connect with the breath, more than musculature, we will arrive at a place of strong muscles but with flexible joints, and the capacity for healing. These classes will move towards building strong, stable balance in postures with extendable flexibility.

Slow To Become Strong

These classes are about learning to make yourself feel well vs. achieving impressive looking poses.  Helping you to break out of the cycle of feeling continuous pain.  For those with limited mobility, repetitive stress injuries, recovering from injury, illness, or neglect.  It's focus is slower, utilizing Yin, Restorative and gentle movements to be more therapeutic, using the path of yoga as a healing journey.  Creating functional strength and flexibility, as well as correcting dysfunctional movement patterns.

Restorative/Yin

This is a great way to reduce stress in your life. The nurturing, supportive practice offers a refuge from the daily accumulation of stress. Based on the Iyengar tradition, postures are held with the use of props to allow you to hold the postures for an extended period of time. You will feel the benefits of the stretch without the strain. The passive stretches and longer holds give you the opportunity to free your mind from it's conditioned restraints, freeing up space and clearing your mind. You will feel restored and refreshed, and likely have the best sleep ever after.  This is a great compliment to other forms of activity.

Yin Yoga

Yin is a rich complement to the more muscular forms of activity. It emphasizes the deep release of connective tissues, primarily through the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine. This core focus gives vast improvement in physical flexibility and sets the foundation for deepening, or establishing a meditation practice.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness Meditation (Vipassana) is the art of clear seeing and stability of mind.  Using the breath to focus the mind it becomes centered and calm.   Once the mind is calm observation can be present.

Mindfulness is good for your body, your mind and increasing grey matter density.  What this means for you is the increased ability to tune out distractions, improving memory and attention skills, regulating emotions and aiding in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.  The benefits are innumerable and continue to unfold within the rise of receptivity to the neutral unfolding of events both inner and outer.

Mindfulness is a part of all classes.

Tremoring

Tremoring is a form of releasing from the body that which is hidden, trapped or stuck.  The movement helps to release stress, tension and trauma from the body.   Feelings of worry, anxiety and stress are reduced.  You will experience more energy, less physical pain and greater emotional resiliency.

Through the Tremoring  practice, neurogenic tremors (tremors within the muscles) are prompted through gentle movement & pranayama (breathing), resulting in deep relaxation & state of calm throughout the entire body & mind.  With this practice we can experience a surrender and releasing of the accumulations of deep chronic stresses and traumas which we hold in our bodies.

Tremoring is occasionally a part of public classes, but I do work with individuals or groups for private sessions.
