A Cherishing Night of Yoga…with Zoe!

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

6:00-9:00 pm

Make it a retreat. Smooth your nerves, treasure yourself, and relish this age & stage in your life.

It’s an especially magical night, since Shanti is moving locations this spring. This will be our last chance to witness that astounding double sunset that streams through Shanti’s windows and kiss these beloved hardwood floors goodbye. Let’s light our candles and lanterns one last time together at this particular location that is teeming with all of our memories, tears, giggles, and deep lessons, before we welcome in Shanti’s next new location.

6:00-7:30 pm All-levels yoga class & philosophy teaching on “Aging.” It sounds like a sad topic, but it’s actually beautiful, hopeful, & tender! How does yoga philosophy make sense of aging? What does it mean to age? What does yoga philosophy offer us to help process our own aging and each other’s?

7:30-8:00 pm  Simple mouth-watering meal:  warm, buttery-tasting masala dosas, which are somehow vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free. These are individually wrapped for each of you so that you can move around, sit where you want, get a breath of fresh air, or take it with you to go if you need to leave early.

8:00-9:00 pm   Gentle yoga class & final meditation to lift our spirits & fill us with refreshed hope.

$60 (total) to register for this Cherishing Night of Yoga.

Since Shanti is moving that week, please contact Zoe Stikeman directly: zoestikeman@rogers.com or 647-922-9642

To register and reserve your spot before it fills up, please send Zoe an e-transfer to that same email address (zoestikeman@rogers.com) in the amount of $60 (total). Then Zoe will email you to thank you for your payment, and to confirm that you are officially registered.

In the past, these special retreats have usually filled up very quickly. And it’s always heartbreaking when some people aren't able to attend due to space. So if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't wait to contact Zoe and register.

If a schedule conflict arises for you (travel, illness, childcare, etc), then please do send in a friend/relative/neighbour to enjoy your spot in your place that night. Do take the time to line up a possible loved one who might like to attend instead.

Otherwise, we can gladly offer a 50% refund up until April 16.

Unfortunately, I hope that you understand that we cannot offer any refund on a cancellation made on April 17th.

We look forward to seeing your shining faces on Tuesday April 18th, from 6:00-9:00 pm.

Yoga Nidra: With Karla Muzyka
4:00 pm16:00

Yoga Nidra: With Karla Muzyka

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditative journey through the layers of our being. (physical, energetic, mental/emotional, intellectual/wisdom, bliss) It is a systematic guided method of meditation.

Through direct experience with each of these layers, in a deeply relaxed state, you are able to transcend your conscious mind and access your sub-conscious... which allows you to release stored programs and belief systems that you no longer need. You will also connect deeply into the wisdom and truth of your heart revealing pathways for effecting lasting change in your life. You are able to plant the seed of your deepest intention into the receptive, relaxed mind/body and create that which you truly desire for your life.

Yoga Nidra is deeply relaxing and offers many healing benefits to your mind/body:

- encourages exploration of the inner realms

- opportunity to become more embodied

- increases inner strength & personal power

- clearing of unconscious belief patterns

- shifts in limited thinking

- awakening of creativity

- counteracts stress

- release of blocked energy and healing

You will be guided from your waking "beta brain wave state" into a slower brain state called "Alpha brain wave state" where you can experience the authentic self which is not attached to the personality... In this deeply relaxed state you are able to experience higher levels of intuition, creativity and healing.

Tracking time in the alpha state offers you the effects of deep sleep. It has been proven that a 30 minute Nidra practice is equivalent to a 4 hour restful sleep.

This practice will leave you feeling recharged, grounded, rested and with a greater sense of wholeness.

Cost $16

About Richard

Richard Andries has become one of the key driving forces within the Hip Hop dance scene in Edmonton and across Alberta for the past 15 years. With his high energy classes and his passion for the art, he continues to share his vision of the positivity of hip hop culture in everyday life. His personal style is heavily influenced by the foundation of hip hop dancing; popping, locking, breaking, house, etc, and newer forms such as Krump, and Street. For this reason, he has sought out and trained with many of the founders and influential figures of these styles such as: Popin’ Pete, Suga Pop, Mr. Wiggles, Caleaf Sellers, Bradley Rapier, Duece and many more. In 2005, he was chosen to assist Bradley Rapier at the 2005 Dance Xtreme convention in Detroit. Richard and his company, “Rhythmic Flow Productions” (alongside Urban Metropolis) have produced shows with the Jabbawockeez, Super Cr3w, Fanny Pak, and Supreme Soul, from America’s Best Dance Crew where his own crew, White Chocolate opened the shows. Chris Brown, Ludacris, Ne-Yo, Ashanti, Ginuwine, Sean Paul, Kreesha Turner, The Game, Nelly Furtado, Obie Trice, 112, Boyz II Men, Fabolous, K-Ci & JoJo, Chingy, Sean Desmond, Massari, Gary Beals,Rochester, and Snoop Dogg are just a few of the other international acts that Richard has opened for while performing with White Chocolate. White Chocolate along side Fly Girls were also featured at the 2009 Grey Cup pre game show.White Chocolate was also featured as the only Hip-Hop group to perform at Alberta’s Centenniel event where the Queen of England was in attendance. Richard also stars in the hit music video “Bounce With Me” by Kreesha Turner, which was directed by world renowned director, Little X. He has accompanied Canadian artists Kayle and Gary Beals as a background dancer and has toured Europe with Urban Metropolis, and 4 Korners the Toronto Raptor's official DJ's. Spring Yin Workshop: With Tori Lunden

Spring Yin Workshop: With Tori Lunden

It happens every spring. After the joy and jubilation of being able to play outside comes the aches and pains in areas we forgot we had. It comes as a bit of a shock to our bodies this shift to suddenly gardening, biking, running, hiking, along with all the other outdoor activities we love. Even for those that stay active through the winter; the spring is often accompanied by stiff muscles and creaky joints.

This extended practice will help our bodies through this rocky transition with a combination of gentle movement and passive, supported stretches for the shoulders, back, and hips. Take two hours to relax and restore so you can get on with enjoying our beautiful Edmonton summer.

This practice is suitable for beginners, experienced students, and especially beneficial for those with active lifestyles.

Cost: $30 (includes GST)
Please register in advance at http://www.shantiyogastudio.ca/events or call 780-421-9444
