In partnership with the acclaimed YogaWorks, we are excited to offer one of the world's most comprehensive Teacher Training Programs for aspiring teachers and serious students of yoga. The program is rooted in a deep history of an eclectic school that embraces and celebrates many style of yoga. Our mission is to provide each yoga teacher with the foundation to teach skillfully with compassion and safety, while honoring his or her individual voice and style.
Drawing on a variety of influences such as Ashtanga which incorporates heat and flow, Iyengar with the precise, detailed instruction, and from the teachings of Desikachar, posture modifications - the idea that the practice should fit the practitioner. We complement this essential framework of asana with in-depth study of anatomy, the Yoga Sutras and units on the subtle body, Ayurveda and yoga for pregnancy.
The benefits of this type of program is structured to give you time to delve deeper in the practice and understanding of Yoga and yet allowing time to attend to regular daily commitments. How does yoga work for you? Yoga has provided me with greater awareness on how I deal with others as well as myself. It allows me to reconnect and find a sense of calm during stressful times. Overall, I feel better mentally and physically when regularly practicing yoga.
What styles of yoga do you practice/teach? Currently, I am not doing any formal teaching. I occasionally teach friends YogaWorks inspired sequences but for now I am continuing on my personal yoga journey. I have practiced several styles: hatha, vinyasa flow, Iyengar, and Ashtanga. YogaWorks presents an asana practice that is influenced by both Iyengar and Ashtanga so there is flow but also attention to alignment and building strength. The best of both worlds!
Why did you choose the Yoga Works teacher training? I was at a place in my life where I wanted to learn more about yoga and also about my practice. Also, I enjoyed the information session given by Catherine Munro. I was very confident about the level of instruction we would receive.
What did you love the most about the YogaWorks training? I very much enjoyed the atmosphere of the group. Everyone was very kind and supportive and contributed something unique to the experience. I made some really wonderful friends. On the technical side, I got a lot of value from the posture labs where we would look at how to improve alignment and make adjustments on each other. I am also a big fan of the YogaWorks sequencing process where each posture is chosen to prepare/target specific areas of the body for the more challenging peak pose(s) ahead.
Why should someone choose the YogaWorks teacher training? Trainees receive an excellent toolkit (anatomy, sequencing, yoga sutra) to go out and teach safe and effective yoga classes.
